A few weeks ago, I wrote about my attempt to make our lunches healthier and more fun. So, this week we made some rainbow fruit kebabs.
We talked about it beforehand to decide which fruit would be suitable for each colour and then did the shopping.
The fruit we used was
red – strawberries
orange – mandarin
yellow – banana
green – kiwifruit
blue – didn’t have anything (I didn’t have any luck finding blueberries).
purple – grapes (we had to have a little sidebar here about where our food comes from and why mum doesn't buy grapes every week)
Here’s our fruit rainbow …
The skewers didn’t end up being rainbow, but they look lovely nonetheless …![]()
My son really enjoyed threading the skewers, ate plenty of fruit and even tried some fruits that he rarely eats, a big thumbs-up from me!

My kids love these too! Love the idea of using the colours of the rainbow.
I always love seeing learning activities in the kitchen. This one looks like lots of fun! Thanks for the ideas.
